Growth of Video Marketing

How many of you hit the share button, when you see interesting content on social media? Surely we all share content between groups in Whatsapp. And if you think about it, most of this content is in the Video form. Enacted dramas, speeches, videographics, songs or movies are all videos that we share everyday.
Video content used to be frowned upon since they consume more data but the advent of Jio changed all of that. India has the cheapest internet data in the world ($0.26 or Rs 18 per GB) and video content has become the preferred communication mode online.
If your brand is not taking advantage of this trend, then you are losing out. Video creation for social media consumption is not too difficult and there are tools out there that make it simple and impactful.

Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg said this in 2017 – “I see video as a megatrend”. And boy, is he right! Today, 80% of all internet traffic is due to video content and this trend is here to stay. Consumption of content and conversion of audience into paying consumers have both been very rewarding to video creators.

This video posted on one of the pages I manage, has had raving success with close to 300K views. Over 10K people have shared this post and generated constant chatter on the page from followers. The page has also garnered over 1000 Page Likes within a week of posting this video. All this without spending any money on advertising/boosting the content.

Try your hand at creating videos online using some of these FREE tools (advanced versions may require payment):

  1. Lumen 5Lumen5 is a video creation platform powered by A.I. that enables anyone without training or experience to easily create engaging video content within minutes.
  2. MS Office Powerpoint – When you make a recording of a presentation, all its elements (narration, animation, pointer movements, timings, and so on) are saved in the presentation itself. In essence, the presentation becomes a video that your audience can watch in PowerPoint. You can Save/export your presentation to a video file format (.mp4 or .wmv). Read instructions here on how to create videos from your Powerpoint presentation. This is only available in some of the newer versions of Powerpoint.
  3. Rocketium – Create short, stunning videos to promote your brand, announce sales or events or to just tell your story. The Free plan allows up to 3 downloads a month, with a watermark. Upgrade to remove watermark and for more downloads.
  4. Renderforest – Good variety of templates to create compelling videos. Limited options in the Free plan but still worth a try for amateur video creators.
